TEHRAN (IQNA) – A prominent Iranian Quran activist said Quran competitions held at the international level can help enhance unity among Muslims.

Speaking to IQNA, Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Hajabolqassem, a memorizer of the entire Quran, said the Holy Book is revered by all Muslims and, thus, international Quran competitions can be venues for bringing Muslims closer together.

He added that organizing such Quranic events is a great step toward strengthening unity in the Muslim Ummah.

Referring to the upcoming International Quran Competition of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hojat-ol-Islam Hajabolqassem, who is also a member of Iran’s parliament representing the people of Zanjan, noted that many organizations in the country contribute to holding the contest, which helps promote cooperation among these cultural bodies in other Quranic and religious areas as well.

The final round of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s 36th International Quran Competition will begin in Tehran on April 10.

The Imam Khomeini Mosalla (prayer hall) will host the final round of the contest.

The competition will end in an awarding ceremony on April 14 and the contenders will meet with Leader of the Islamic Revolution on April 15.
