Awad Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, secretary general of the Disabled Children’s Association in Saudi Arabia, said that the secretariat of the competition has so far received 149 applications from 92 boys and 57 girls from different educational and charity institutes of Saudi Arabia and some of the member states of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council.
From among the applicants, those qualified to participate in this edition will be selected by the technical committee of the competition, he added.
Al-Ghamdi noted that the large number of the applicants shows the importance of such activities in training mentally and physically disabled children and getting them involved in society.
Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al-Subaihin, secretary general of the competition, said that main objective of the competition is to encourage the disabled younger generation to memorize the Holy Quran, contemplate Quranic meanings, develop their skills and strengthen their relation with the religion, the Holy Quran and Islamic society.
