Dagestan Prison Inmates to Take Quran Lessons

TEHRAN (IQNA) – In Dagestan, prison inmates may start studying the Quran, a source in the republican Committee on Freedom of Conscience and Cooperation with Religious Organizations said.
The Committee executives have conducted negotiations with the top officers of the republican branch of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia.

It was agreed that prison inmates would be granted a possibility to attend special lectures organized by the representatives of Muslim religious board of Dagestan once a month.

The lectures will contain information related to the spiritual and moral upbringing of a personality.

According to a representative of the Federal Penitentiary Service, the spiritual assistance is expected to positively affect the behavior of prisoners, as well as to help them to socialize before exit to freedom.
