Nat’l Quran Competition Underway in Jordan

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The preliminary stage of Jordan’s 26th national Quran competition began in the Arab country on January 13.

According to petra.gov.jo, the Quranic event titled “Al-Hashemi” will continue until February 24.

Hatam Hasimat, director of the Office for Religious Education affiliated to Jordan’s Ministry of Awqaf, said that more than 1500 male Quran activists compete in the preliminary stage of the competition.

He added that the second stage will be held in March and winners will participate in the final stage, slated for April.

Memorization of the entire Quran or 25 Juzes (parts) of Quran and memorization of 20, 15, 10, and 5 Juzes are the categories of the competition, planned for the youth and teenagers.

Children under the age of 8 will compete on the memorization of one Juz of Quran.

The top 5 participants in each category will be awarded, according to the director.
