TEHRAN (IQNA) – An Iranian lawmaker highlighted the growing trend of Quranic activities in Iran since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, saying the country has become a hub of Quranic culture in the world.

Speaking to IQNA, Ali Akbar Karimi, a member of the parliament’s Quran and Etrat Fraction, said that since the victory of the revolution, Quranic activities and programs have significantly developed in the country.

Such activities have turned the Islamic Republic of Iran into one of the Quranic hubs of the world, he stated.

“Thanks to the Islamic Revolution and the Islamic Establishment, we have been able to acquaint a large number of people with the Quranic culture,” the representative of Arak, Khundab and Komijan in the parliament said.

He also urged that the great number of Quran reciters and memorizers trained in the country over the past few years be introduced to the world as one of the major accomplishments of the Islamic Revolution.

Elsewhere, Karimi stressed the importance of organizing Quran competitions in different fields, such as memorization, recitation and Quranic concepts, saying it would help to spread the Quranic culture in society.

He also called for further development of Quranic activities in villages and urban areas.

Karmi went on to say that the Islamic Consultative Body, the Iranian parliament, is fully supportive of expansion of Quranic programs and activities in the country.
