Half A Million Kids Sign Up for Al-Azhar Quranic Programs in Egypt

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Quran Memorization Center affiliated to Egypt’s Al-Azhar Mosque said there has been huge enthusiasm among kids to take part in the center’s classes.

Hani Awda, director of the center, said some 500,000 have applied for the classes, so far, Masrawy.com website reported.

He noted that the center has 507 branches across the North African country.

Awda said that since the resumption of the center’s activities and Quranic programs at the order of Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayeb, specialized committees have been set up to receive requests for participating in the programs.

He added that Quran experts who have mastery over recitation rules will be employed at the branches to teach the memorizers.

Abdul Mun’im Fuad, another official with the center, said that the activities of the center will begin on June 4 and the first group of learners aged 5 and 6 will start attending the classes.

The memorization classes for other age groups will commence in the near future, he stated.

Registration for the Quran memorization courses of the center had stated on April 28 in different provinces of Egypt.
