Ceremony Marks Birthday of Late Egyptian Qari Muhammad Sidiq Minshawi

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A program was held to in Egypt the 100th birthday of late Quran reciter Muhammad Sidiq Minshawi.

 

According to the Daily Dostor, the Dar-al-Ifta (house of Fatwa) of Egypt organized the program.

January 20 marked the 100th anniversary of the prominent Qari’s birthday.

Born in 1920 in the city of Al Minshah in Sohag Governorate of Egypt, Minshawi was raised in a family of Quran reciters.

He learned the entire Quran by heart at the age of 8 and a year later began learning Quran recitation.

Minshawi soon become a prominent Qari both in the styles of Tahqiq and Tarteel.

He traveled to many countries, including Indonesia, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iraq, Pakistan and Sudan, for Quran recitation.

Minshawi died in 1969 at the age of 49.

Egypt is known in the Muslim world as a country where some of the best Quran reciters have emerged in recent decades.

They include prominent Qaris like Abdul Basit Abdus Samad, Mohammed Siddiq Minshawi, Shahat Mohamed Anwar, and Mustafa Esmail.
