TEHRAN (IQNA) –  The Baqiyatallah Dar-ol-Quran Center in Kabul, Afghanistan’s capital, plans to hold a Quran recitation session later in the holy month of Ramadan.

Hojat-ol-Islam Seyed Kazem Hojjat, head of the center, said it will be organized on the 27th day of the holy month, which falls on May 10, ICRO reported.

Speaking in a meeting with Iranian Cultural Attaché in Afghanistan Gholam Hossein Shirzad, Hojat-ol-Islam Hojjat said Quran reciters, memorizers and Quran activists will attend the program.

He further called on Iran to send internationally recognized Qaris and Quran reciters to Afghanistan and hold Quranic courses and workshops in the country.

Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar. It is a period of prayer, fasting, charity giving and self–accountability for Muslims around the world.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast (abstain from foods and drinks) from sunrise to sunset.

They also devote a considerable amount of time during this month to reading and contemplating the Quran.
