Quran Memorization, Recitation Competition Under Way in Kuwait
TEHRAN (IQNA) – The preliminary stage of the 24th edition of Kuwait’s nationwide Quran memorization and recitation began under the sponsorship of the country’s ruler.
Mansour al-Saqaabi, an official with Kuwait’s Awqaf Organization, said the Waqf Fund for Quran and Quranic sciences has organized the event, Al Jarida reported.
The contest, named Itmaen (rest assured), is aimed at promoting memorization of the Quran and learning its recitation and raising a generation of Quranic talents in the country, he said.
The official added that the final round will be held in October at the Grand Mosque in Kuwait City.
The finals will go on for two weeks, he said, noting that winners of top titles will receive cash prizes totaling 150,000 Kuwaiti dinars.
