Major Quran Teaching Plan Launched in Iraq

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A major plan for specialized teaching of the Holy Quran has started in the holy city of Karbala with the participation of students from all over Iraq.

The Holy Quran Scholarly Assembly affiliated to the Astan (custodianship) of Hazrat Abbas (AS) holy shrine is implementing the plan, according to Al-Kafeel website.

Dubbed al-Kafeel Specialized Quranic Project, it includes intensive courses on Quran recitation, Tajweed, Waqf and Ibtida (pause and start), Quranic sciences and Quran teaching methods.  

A total of 269 students from different governorates of Iraq have taken the courses. 

The Quranic plan will take a total of 70 hours to complete and those who pass the final exams will receive certificates of attendance.

At the opening session, Abbas Mousa, an official with the Astan, underscored the importance of learning and teaching the Quran.

He said serving the Holy Book and contributing to the promotion of Quranic sciences are among the priorities of the Astan of Hazrat Abbas (AS) holy shrine.

Ahmad Ali Sheikh, the head of the Holy Quran Scholarly Assembly, also addressed the event, elaborating on the challenges facing the Iraqi nation and stressing the need for resorting to the Quran to counter them.

He also highlighted the measures taken by the assembly to promote Quranic teachings in Karbala and other parts of Iraq.
