Gas poisoning or food poisoning have been cited as the possible cause of their deaths, according to El-Balad TV network.
Ahemd Arafat, a local official, said police and emergency services were sent to their home after receiving reports of the situation.
An initial examination showed that gas poisoning or food poisoning had caused the death of Sheikh Issa, his wife and his 38-year-old son who was a pediatrician, he said.
Arafat added that 9 other members of the family, including Sheikh Issa’s daughters-in-law and his grandchildren, were also sent to a hospital in Alexandria for treatment.
They were suffering from nausea and dizziness, he went on to say.
