TEHRAN (IQNA) – One of the most decisive events for Muslims in the early years after the advent of Islam was the signing of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah.

Good News of Manifest Victory for Muslims in Surah Al-Fath

It led to a ten-year ceasefire between Muslims and disbelievers. It seemed to be a simple event but the peace brought about great victories for Muslims.

Al-Fath is the name of the Holy Quran’s 48th Surah. It has 29 verses and is in the 26th Juz. Al-Fath is Madani (revealed in Medina) and the 112th chapter of the Quran revealed to the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

The name of the Surah comes from the word Fath Mubin (manifest victory) mentioned in the beginning of the chapter. It refers to the victory achieved as a result of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah in the sixth year after Hijra. The treaty that established a ten-year ceasefire was signed between the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and the disbelievers of Mecca.

The peace treaty led to great victories like the conquest of Khaybar in the 7th Hijri year and the conquest of Mecca in the 8th year after which a large number of disbelievers converted to Islam.

The main content of Surah Al-Fath is about the message of Muslims’ victory and God reminding the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and believers of His favor to them.

It also includes praise for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and believers, giving beautiful promises about this world and the hereafter, giving monotheists good news about reaching peace of mind and gaining reward for their faith and forgiveness for those who fight on the path of God, as well as giving warning to disbelievers and hypocrites.

The Surah further highlights the lofty status of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and elaborates on the objectives of the revelation and the Risalah (mission) of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

The Surah begins with the good news of manifest victory and emphasizes that the dream the Holy Prophet (PBUH) had about entering Mecca (and defeating disbelievers) would come true.

Surah Al-Fath also talks about the disruptions caused by the hypocrites and cites some of the baseless excuses they make to avoid going to the battlefield and their unbefitting demands.

It then introduces those groups who are not required to be present in the battlefield and then mentions some of the characteristics of the followers of the school of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
