The contest was held by the Samen Al-Aeme Imam Reza Quran Academy on September 15-17.

Qaris and Tarteel reciters from different parts of Australia as well as New Zealand competed for the top prizes.

Muhammad Taqi Saadi came first in the category of recitation while Muhammad Ali Saadi bagged the top prize in Tarteel.

In the Tarteel category for women, the top contender was Larayb Malik, a participant originally from Pakistan.

The panel of arbiters included a number of Quran experts such as Habibullah Razban, Sheikh Mahdi al-Kana’ani and Hojat-ol-Islam Hussein Jawaheri.

It was headed by Mustafa Ashrafi, who is also the president of the Samen Al-Aeme Imam Reza Quran Academy.

According to Ashrafi, the winners will represent Australia in international Quran contests.

The academy was formally established in 2021 and it hosts between 150 and 300 people for programs such as tawassul supplication, Ashrafi earlier told IQNA in an interview.

Furthermore, the center annually hosts special Quranic programs during Ramadan nights which have been “very successful,” Ashrafi said.
