Surah An-Nasr is among the chapters talking about the future.
An-Nasr is the 110th chapter of the Quran that has three verses and is in the 30th Juz. It is Madani and the 102nd chapter revealed to the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
The word Nasr, meaning help, comes in the first verse, and hence the name of the Surah.
Surah An-Nasr is about two future events. The first is mentioned in Verse 1: “When there comes the help of Allah and the victory.”
Many interpreters believe victory here refers to the Muslim conquest of Mecca, which put an end to idolatry and turned the holy city into a hub of worshipping God.
It was after that conquest that Islam spread and Muslims achieved more victories.
The second predicted event is people embracing Islam in groups: “And you will see large groups of people embracing the religion of God.” (Verse 2)
God tells His Prophet (PBUH) that in the future, people will embrace Islam in groups. This can be referring to the era after the conquest of Mecca when people and tribes from different cities and regions would go to Mecca to accept Islam.
It can also refer to later centuries in which people in different countries embraced Islam and the religion spread in the world.
In Verse 3, God gives three important commands to the Holy Prophet (PBUH): “Glorify your Lord with praise and ask Him for forgiveness. He accepts repentance.”
This verse calls for glorifying and praising God and also repentance.
The conquest of Mecca, which was a great victory, proved that God will not leave alone those walking on His path. It also proved that God is omnipotent and can fulfil His promises.
